Downtown Diner Reopens Under New Owners After Winter Closure

The diner on the corner of Main and Second is serving again after a months-long winter closure, reopening this week under new local owners who say they wanted to keep a downtown fixture from going dark for good.

The new operators kept the familiar booths and counter stools but trimmed the menu, focusing on breakfast and a short list of daily specials. They said the smaller menu lets a small kitchen crew keep quality up during the morning rush.

What is changing, and what is not

Regulars will notice a few adjustments alongside the familiar setting:

  • Extended weekend hours, with breakfast served until early afternoon
  • A rotating special sourced from valley farms when available
  • The same coffee-and-a-booth pace that made the place a morning hub

The owners said the response in the first few days has been steady, with a line out the door on the first Saturday. They are hiring for a handful of positions and hope to add a limited dinner service later in the year once the kitchen is fully staffed.

For many downtown, the reopening is a relief. Several nearby shopkeepers said foot traffic drops noticeably when the diner is closed, and they were glad to see the lights back on.
